About

I'm Shahid Ahmed. For thirty-five years I worked at Chevron, most of that time on the question of how very large organizations navigate uncertainty and drive change.

I led enterprise transformation programs that reached more than 45,000 people across a $200-billion+ organization. I also held full P&L responsibility as general manager across North America and Southeast Asia. Along the way I worked in strategy and business development, which taught me how differently strategy looks from the strategy room than from the front line.

Today I advise organizations on AI, energy strategy and organizational transformation, and I moderate and connect people across the energy sector around the globe.

This site is where I think in longer form. LinkedIn is good for conversation; it is less good for arguments that take eight essays to make. Here each series lives in one place, in order, so you can start at the beginning or pick up where you left off.

Work together

I take on a small number of advisory engagements, speaking invitations and panel moderation, particularly where energy, AI and organizational change meet. The best way to start a conversation is a message on LinkedIn.

What I write about

  • ChangemakersOrganizational transformation from the inside: what makes change land across tens of thousands of people, and what quietly kills it.
  • EnergizersThe energy industry and the transition, read through strategy, capital and institutions rather than headlines.
  • Rereading the MastersRevisiting the foundational thinkers of management and leadership for an AI-shaped, low-trust decade, beginning with an eight-part series on Peter Drucker. Each essay states one idea plainly, names what the present has broken, and works out what it now demands.
  • StrategizersStrategy synthesis: the best current thinking from research and practice, distilled into what a leader can use on Monday.
